Privacy policy

Last updated: 26 October 2026

This policy explains what personal information The Bill Detective ("we", "us") collects, why, and your rights under the Protection of Personal Information Act, 2013 (POPIA).

Who is responsible

The Bill Detective is the responsible party for personal information collected through this website. Contact us at blakeworkie@gmail.com about anything in this policy, including access, correction or deletion requests.

What we collect

When you request quotes through our free quotes form, we collect what you enter: your name, phone number and/or email address, suburb, the type of system you're interested in, property type, approximate monthly bill, timeline and any message. We also record that you gave consent, when, the page you used and the country your connection came from (as reported by our hosting provider). We don't record your full IP address with your request.

When you browse the site, our hosting provider (Cloudflare) processes technical data such as IP addresses to deliver and protect the site. We don't currently use advertising cookies. If we add analytics, we'll update this policy first.

When you email us, we receive your email address and whatever you write.

Why we use it

We don't sell your information, and we don't use it for unrelated marketing.

Who we share it with

How long we keep it

We keep quote requests for up to 12 months after your request, then delete them, unless you ask us to delete them sooner.

Your rights

Under POPIA you can ask us to confirm what information we hold about you, correct it, delete it, or object to us processing it. Email us at blakeworkie@gmail.com. If you're not happy with our response, you can complain to the Information Regulator of South Africa (inforegulator.org.za).

Security

Submissions are sent over an encrypted connection and stored in access-restricted storage. No system is perfectly secure, so please don't include anything sensitive (such as ID numbers or banking details) in the form.

Changes

We'll update this page and the date at the top if anything changes.
